Blake Lively may have made a name for herself as the star of teen dramas like Gossip Girl and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but in the fashion world, her red carpet style carries a legacy of its own. She consistently wows at movie premieres and Cannes red carpets and is one of the most anticipated guests to walk the Met Gala carpet each year. Her color-changing gown from the 2022 event will go down in Met Gala history. But her other looks are no less memorable. Lively is regularly named among the gala's best dressed, with many publications dubbing her the queen of fashion prom. She even has a track record of matching the red carpet, despite it changing yearly.
Her style icon status is all the more impressive when considering that she's famously never worked with a stylist. She's the mastermind behind the defining features of many of her most iconic looks, from color-changing dresses to oversized trains and hand-sewn diamond embellishments. She even gets involved with costuming, having told Vogue "I show up with my own wardrobe a lot."
Her style as evolved over time, becoming bolder and more distinctive. And as a mother of four, Lively has showcased top-tier red carpet maternity style time and again.
Below, find her 30 most iconic red carpet looks.
A Color Changing Met Gala Gown
One of Lively's most iconic looks is the Atelier Versace gown she wore to the 2022 Met Gala. The event celebrated American fashion and featured the dress code 'gilded glamour,' referencing 19th-century New York. The stakes were high that year, as Lively cohosted the event alongside her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and she delivered.
She stepped onto the carpet in a dress with a multicolored metallic bodice, oversized copper-pink bow, train, and matching gloves. But halfway up the iconic Met steps, two attendants undid the bow, which transformed into a blue-green skirt and train. The transition from copper to sea green represented the oxidation of the Statue of Liberty. Lively told Vogue she devised the idea herself and pitched it to Versace. "Instead of me performing, I wanted the dress to perform."
But the coloring isn't the only nod to New York. The pattern of the bodice referenced the design of the Empire State Building, the draping evoked the Statue of Liberty, and the pattern along the skirt alluded to the constellation pattern painted on the ceiling of Grand Central Station, which features in the opening scene of Gossip Girl.
Heavenly Met Gala Gown

Lively so consistently comes out on top as best dressed at the Met Gala that it's hard to rank her best looks. But if any of them could compete with her iconic 2022 color-changing gown, it would be her 2018 look, also by Versace. In 2022, she told Vogue it was "without a doubt" her "favorite look of all time."
The theme that year was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." Lively certainly evoked the celestial with a diamond halo by Lorraine Schwartz, and channeled the best of Catholic aesthetics in a regal gown with a jewel-covered corset bodice and rich crimson skirt embroidered with gold. Lively told Vogue that she worked with Versace to alter an existing dress, asking for a longer train, and additional embroidery. She complimented the look with a rich red lip and emerald earrings, which she said Schwartz made the night before the event.

Another of Lively's gowns that's easy to recall a decade later, her 2014 Met Gala dress, by Gucci Première, featured blush-toned sequins and a cape-like train extending from her shoulders. She added to the old Hollywood glamour of it all with a side part and structured waves.

Lively later told Vogue that she had originally planned to wear this dress to that year's Met Gala, and save the blush-colored dress for Cannes. But she thought other Met Gala guests might be in similar gowns, and ultimately swapped them.
