In the balmier months, I often reapply foundation twice a day. It’s a habit my boyfriend deems a waste of time; if he were a makeup-wearing person with a propensity for sweating, however, I reckon he’d understand. Unfortunately, most longwear formulas feel too heavy for this time of year and look overly matte on my ultra-dry skin. In my search for an option that’s equal parts lightweight and longwearing, I finally discovered Chanel’s Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation—a formula worn by the likes of Kirsten Dunst. True to its name, it delivers a radiant, healthy glow; plus, it remains remarkably budge-proof, even when I’m hopping around the city in humid weather.

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation is a lightweight, longwearing liquid skin perfector with a radiant, natural-looking finish. Available in 39 shades, it offers buildable, light-to-medium coverage—just enough to conceal imperfections without reading makeup-y—and melts tracelessly into skin, sans caking or melting off midday. Furthermore, the foundation hydrates skin for up to 12 hours, per the brand; while I haven’t put a stopwatch to this claim, I can confirm my typically tight, dry complexion remains comfortably soft throughout the day.
Glycerin is partially to thank; the ingredient, a humectant, attracts moisture and holds it in the skin for longterm plumpness. Meadowfoam seed oil, an emollient that also retains moisture, in addition to smoothing the appearance of wrinkles, is also present. Finally, tocopherol, or vitamin E, offers additional skincare benefits, improving suppleness and protecting against skin-aging environmental factors.

In addition to skincare benefits, the formula offers an instant dose of luminosity, courtesy of finely-milled, light reflecting pigments. To be clear: this in no way creates a glittery effect; instead, it simply gives skin a smooth, healthy-looking glow.
The brand suggests applying the formula with its foundation brush, which I do when I have time. On rushed mornings, however, I use my bare hands to smooth the product over my skin, which, truthfully, works equally well. A single pump from the bottle delivers just the right amount of product to cover my entire face when I want light, no-makeup-makeup coverage; another pump delivers medium coverage. Either way, I’m spending much less time reapplying my makeup than I used to.
