Elle Woods is back. Reese Witherspoon revived one of her most memorable characters at Amazon's Inaugural Upfront Presentation at Pier 36 in New York City today. And while it's never a bad thing seeing Witherspoon in pink, she slipped into Woods's signature heels for a good reason: Elle, a series based on the beloved character, is a go for Prime Video, giving fans the story of how everyone's favorite chihuahua-wrangling lawyer came to be before her time at Harvard law.
For the announcement, Witherspoon went full-on Elle Woods cosplay, wearing a full pink skirt suit and sky-high heels. Of course, there was a chihuahua in tow (The Hollywood Reporter notes that it was a cameo from the actual Bruiser) as well as Wood's signature big, blonde blowout. While there's no news yet on who will star in the show and when it'll hit the streamer, it's good news for anyone waiting on anything from the Legally Blonde universe, especially as fans have been teased with a third installment in the film franchise for years now.

Look of the day
“I truly couldn’t be more excited about this series!” Witherspoon shared in a statement. “Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity in ways that only our beloved Elle could do. What could be better than that? I’m extremely grateful to the incredible teams at Prime Video and Hello Sunshine—along with our amazing writer, Laura Kittrell—for making this dream of mine come true. Legally Blonde is back!”
The logline for the series goes something like this: “Elle follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film.”

“One of the most quotable, iconic, and beloved characters that is ingrained in the fabric of Hollywood history has to be Elle Woods, and we are honored to bring her origin story to our global Prime Video customers,” Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios, said. “Reese and Hello Sunshine’s vision for this series, coupled with Laura Kittrell’s winning voice, made this show completely undeniable.”
Elle continues Witherspoon's partnership with Amazon: her production company, Hello Sunshine, handled Daisy Jones & the Six and Something From Tiffany’s.
