Sydney Sweeney Paired Tiny Shorts With a Giant Blazer

If there's one thing Sydney Sweeney simply cannot abide, it is pants. Ok, yes, obviously, she sometimes wears them, but lately, she's been opting to show just about as much leg as possible. In fact, in and around wearing a glamorous princess ballgown by Miu Miu to the Met Gala, the Euphoria actress has shunned pants altogether. Ahead of the event, she stepped out in New York in a dark denim, cinched jacket, with nothing but a pair of teeny tiny short shorts peeking out below. Then, yesterday, she opted for a Miu Miu set consisting of a fitted striped crop top and a matching pair of shorts — or should we say boxer briefs? Call them what you like, either way, it's clear Sweeney is utterly committed to the pantsless trend.

Yesterday evening, Sweeney appeared in a yet another pantsless look while out in Gramercy. She paired her itty-bitty animal print shorts with a gray shirt with a high round collar and an ultra oversized sparkly silver blazer. She rounded out the look with a pair of sheer white knee-high socks, white heels and a large white purse, which she carried under her arm. She wore her hair in a casual low bun and finished off the look with a pair of round sunglasses (and, yes, she wore them at night).

This look was all about the intentionally unbalanced silhouette created by the wide shoulder pads on the top and the bare legs below. Trust Sweeney to give us a new spin on the pantsless trend that is literally perfect for a night out on the town.

Sweeney may have been rocking this look to celebrate yesterday's news that she has been cast to play famed 1980s American boxer Christy Martin in a biopic directed by David Michôd. "I grappled and did kickboxing from 12-19 years old," said Sweeney to Deadline. "I’ve been itching to get back into the ring, train, and transform my body. Christy’s story isn’t a light one, it’s physically and emotionally demanding, there’s a lot of weight to carry. But I love challenging myself.”

She added, “Christy Martin not only legitimized female boxing, she overcame gender stereotypes, and fought through emotional, physical, and financial abuse. I’m passionate about the fighting world, Christy’s story shines a light on her incredible rise to the top while showing the struggles of fame behind the curtains. I feel compelled to tell a story about a woman who faced so much adversity and didn’t allow it to defeat her. It’s powerful, and emotional.”
